First of all I wan’t to say *phew* as the second day of the admission test to TaiK is over. Today after 21ish I’ll get to know if I made it to the final test which last from Wednesday until Friday.

And to the point. Screen printing. A video about it. It’s nice, almost gorgeous. You should probably watch it.

A lot of good things seem to happen on my birthday, the 28th of May. Grain edit is announcing the winner of the bicycle poster giveaway and a even greater news is that the Typeface documentary is being released on that very same day!

Typeface is a documentary that focuses on letterpressing especially in Hamilton Wood Type musem in rural Wisconsin. I would so much love to have this documentary!

Found this interesting documentary about people in America who still paint signs by hand. The documentary is not yet released but I’m looking forward to it. Go tho their web page for more info.

Signs being made at New Bohemia Signs

The great finnish drinking-orgy (or whatever you want to call it) Vappu is on friday. So I made a poster to promote happenings during the weekend organized by my schools student organizations.

It's simple, yet effective and has a groovy color!

Found this awesome brand collateral for the New Sheridan Hotel in Colorado over at For Print Only. This was one seriously big project so I’ll give the people at Urban Influence five top hats for the execution. Even their website is rockin’ in the same style, newsheridan.com.

How awesome aren't these coffee cups?! Simply gorgeous!

Really loving the die-cut cards and the typography

Check out the whole set

Yesterday when I came home for work I had a rather pleasant surprise waiting at me – the newest issue of It’s Nice That! What a truly great publication it is, have just read some articles but boy does it look good. You should definitely get a copy if they are still some left.

Issue #3

It’s already April and the deadline for the preliminary assignments to TaiK is on the 16th April! Panic!

I’ve been now studying at Arcada for the past two years at the Digital Multimedia program but it has not fulfilled my expectations on so many levels so I decided it’s time for a change. I’m applying for the Graphic Design program and one of our preliminary assignments was to make a printed portfolio, so I’m devoting this easter in a rather non-traditional way – making my portfolio.

Work in progress, got the structure pretty much sorted out :)

Oh, I’m listening to the Eko Lagos – Fight to Win album right now, such great music I discovered by accident! Really inspiring!

Found these posters a while ago but didn’t post them (don’t know why) and now I accidentally rediscovered them so here you go. These five posters would be SO nice to have hanging in my room, just love the usage of color in contrast with b/w photos and the typography is gorgeous.

They’re made by spanish designer Jorge León, check out his site, he has made a lot of other interesting work.
